How To Eliminate That Fat Belly!

Learning how to eliminate fat involves a variety of different things. The same holds true for eliminating our belly fat. It isn’t just eating healthy food and exercising, but rather a combination of both. It’s impossible to reduce a bulging stomach unless you are willing to take the steps necessary to make a difference.

The belly is one of the first places where fat accumulates, and, as such, it’s important to make sure you do healthy things that will prevent the collection of fat in the abdominal area. It’s going to take some work, but when you see the results in the end, you will know that it was well worth the effort.

The first thing you need to do is get into the habit of eating a healthy diet that is full of fruits, vegetables, and foods that include Omega-3 fats such as olive oil, fatty fish, nuts, and seeds. What these Omega-3 fats do for the body is reduce body inflammation. These fats also help reduce the production of adrenaline, a hormone that is released into the body from the adrenal glands when danger is imminent. By reducing the production of both inflammation and adrenaline, we are also able to reduce the supply of belly fat.

You must understand that a healthy diet on its own is not the answer to eliminating our belly fat, but rather the combination of diet and exercise. That being said, keep in mind that it’s essential to exercise for at least twenty minutes every day, preferably with some aerobic movements. Getting into the habit or incorporating cross country skiing or kickboxing into your daily regimen will teach you how to eliminate fat in your belly and send you on the way to a trimmer and healthier body.

Of course, you will read all kinds of ads that tell you how to lose your belly in four days or other unbelievable time frames. The truth is that it takes time, and no matter what anyone tells you, there is no quick and easy way to get rid of excess belly fat, except to follow a healthy eating plan, exercise, and add some stress relievers to prevent the body from producing too much adrenaline, and thus adding to the belly fat.

Learning how to eliminate fat is the first step toward being able to rid yourself of it. After all, if you don’t know how to do it in the first place, you will have no success. It’s important to do it in a healthy way, and not by following all those fad diets that tell you that you can lose nine pounds a week or 18 pounds in four days.

Learning the process of eliminating our belly fat is not one conducive to the use of fad diets or quick weight loss plans that will only eliminate the weight for a short time. You want the plan that is going to work to help you keep the weight down and the belly flat, namely a plan full of fruits and vegetables, Omega-3 fats, and aerobic exercise.

Exercise and cutting out some key causes help too such as drinking beer or any alcohol for that matter. Nobody got a beer gut from drinking water. Great info

Very well said. I would like to stress that finding an exercise, activity, or sport that is fun to do with greatly enhance your chances at successful belly fat elimination. In addition to cross county skiing or kickboxing, there’s always walking, hiking, dancing, rock climbing, bicycle riding, etc., to help you exercise. Hope this helps. I love this blog. Keep up the good work!

AGREED! many people nowadays are not as active than they should be. generally because of the things that makes our lives a little easier and a little more convenient (cars, elevator, escalators, etc)… people are also surrounded with mouth watering food that seem to become more plentiful by the minute… this kind of lifestyle and the amount of food intake only contribute to weight gain.. i believe that it is essential to counter this with a one to punch of exercise and appropriate diet plans… please dont go for those crash diets! loosing weight and loosing that belly does not happen overnight! that belly piled up over a long time and its healthier to loose it slowly!

yes yes yes, a combination of good diet and exercise is right on the money. I also liked and agree your comment “Learning how to eliminate fat is the first step toward being able to rid yourself of it” It’s so frustrating to see people hop from one fad to the next and not achieving their weight goals because they don’t take the time to understand how weight loss works with different programs. People are too used to instant solutions and like to hop from one craze to the next.

There is definitely no quick fix to getting rid of a big belly, as you said. I struggle with getting rid of extra weight in that area myself. One of the best ways I have found to help me out with that area is with getting a personal trainer. Obviously, this isn’t the solution for everyone but the trainers I have had really push me over the edge and get me back on track for my fitness goals. So your suggestions combined with the aide of a personal trainer would be extremely effective.

As you age, you become less active and the tendency to have the belly fat increases. You are correct, you must keep up an exercise routine. Eating right and exercising are necessary to be successful with losing the belly fat. Good blog.

  7. I think that it is impossible to lose fat particularly from our belly because fat loss is a whole body process. Therefore, I agree with your point that we should do aerobic exercises. Besides, I think we should build abdominal muscles because muscles burn more calorie than usual cells and help to improve our RMR :)

I agree with you. Burning away excess fat is the most effective way to eliminate belly fat but to properly do this you must speed up your metabolism. And the best way to rev up your metabolism is with diet and exercise. Get it? diet AND exercise. Unfortunately many people think this means doing what was mentioned above; aerobics, incorporating things to kick boxing and country skiing and a calorie restricted diet, which leads to little if any fat loss, particularly around the belly. Understanding how metabolism works will help you see why diet and exercise affects how much body fat you have. Everyday your body needs a certain amount of calories to fuel its processes. Everyone knows you get those calories from the foods you eat and we all know what happens when we eat too many of them. What many people don’t know is that eating less calories can have a damaging effect on your ability in losing weight as well. The lesser you eat, the slower your metabolism works, and this metabolic slow down will result in your body, layering its fat stores and even adding to them if possible while it starts to consume its lean muscle mass to supply the energy it needs. Not something that you dreamed of while exercising right? But some people don’t really have the luxury of spending large amount just to lose weight. I mean let’s just be practical. Purchase a home gym instead, that doesn’t really have to empty your pocket. Find something inexpensive, but will give you great benefits and can give you more than 10 different great total body workout inside your living room, while listening to your favorite music or watching your favorite soap. See? Comfort and fitness in one. Good luck with all your endeavors.

Occasionally, people will still have a gut even after losing a large amount of fat. Most people in this country are constipated, and having a constipated colon will push on your abdominal wall, which can make it stick out.

    Good article.

Losing belly fat is not just a diet change or just a fitness change, it’s a lifestyle change.

That’s very true, there is no quick fix. Losing body fat takes time but once you get rolling its not that difficult.

  11. Mckenna Wilson, 17. June 2008, 23:07

Great article! As well as including all those EFA’s into our diets, we also need to eliminate things like bad fats, sugar, excessive sodium and the wrong types of carbs. And as well as doing heaps of cardio, its really important to lift weights to build muscle and do abdominal exercises to tone and define the lurking muscles! I’d also say that you probably want to do a little more than 20 minutes cardio to see better results… great stuff though, keep it up!

  12. Bowtrol Cleanse, 25. June 2008, 15:59

I think these are all great tips. I would like to add that a colon cleanse once a year helps immensely with weight loss as well. Maintaining a diet high in fiber and fruits and veggies once your cleanse is complete will keep weight from being put on due to poor diet.

My stomach has lost almost all its fat by keeping away from high GI carbs, running, and doing a regular colon cleansing regimen. (I do situps every day too but it didn’t lose the fat for me it just lets me show off the muscles that are left!)

Great post! I agree. It took a while to put on the weight, so it is natural that it will take some time to take it off. Fad diets may produce quick results, but often times the weight you lost is easily regained.

Remember that stored in your fat cells are toxins. Burning fat will release these toxins. Remember to drink lots of water, eat as much raw food as you can, use a sauna if you access, and exercise. All of these things will help eliminate the toxins without you getting sick, having headaches, etc…

    Great blog!

Its an important note that direct exercises which stimulate the abdominal muscles will do very little for a reduction in fat off the stomach area. Crunches and other midsection exercises will stress the abdominal muscles, which will likely lead to gains in muscle strength and growth, not a reduction in fat from the area. As you say in the post, diet and cardio are needed to reduce body fat.

Boy, don’t I know it! My wife and I lost a good deal of weight over the years. We found it again, of course- that’s one thing that you can never quite “lose” for good, if you’re not careful!
Mixing a better diet, low level laser treatments and some light exercise made all the difference.

Well put. You see those ads everywhere, especially on the internet. I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen those “lost 11lbs in 9 days” ads running on google promoting a program appropriately titled “fat loss for idiots”.

If only the people buying into programs like that took the time to do their research before hand and adopt a complete lifestyle change rather than looking for a quick fix.

Well you would think all the things you suggest would help to lose belly fat and they did for me to a certain extent. But…not entirely…for me anyway. Obviously, everybody is different. I have tried everything you can think in the past, but I can’t get rid of my belly fat entirely. I don’t eat sweets, cakes or chocolate, eat plenty of fruit and veg and I run 7 miles every day. On top of that I do core strength excercises and loads of walking. However, all that can make me really skinny all over apart from I look pregnant. Some people are just born like it.

I agree that the best way to start ridding of belly fat is to cut down on the saturated fat in your diet. It’s a must to read labels! In addition to the saturated fat found in foods, you have to also monitor your intake of sugar. I’m on a quest to reduce my belly fat and eliminating my love for beer was the hardest thing to do. Beer is a leading cause of fat storage in the belly, mostly due to its ingredient “maltose”, a sugar that it known to raise your insulin levels quickly <- I read about this in the South Beach diet book.

You are so right, it’s not enough to just feel like getting rid of stomach fat you need to actually do it, some dedication and focus is required and the understanding of how to do it is the key, omega-3 is excellent for the body by the way. Thanks for sharing this tips.

A very useful article! Before a week I have created my own weight loss plan. I agree that it is very important to incorporate exercise with dieting. Now it is the main thing in my weight loss plan. I am planning to join a local gym and take a personal trainer. I agree with you that a personal trainers help will be very effective!

  24. pheromone parfum, 15. September 2009, 13:09

Exactly, learning about how to do it is the first step. Many people are complaining and then when you see their diet you totally get why the can+t make it.

  25. Gabe, 21. September 2009, 9:26

    I agree.

peoples nowadays are becoming so lazy that they always want to stay in front of the TV and hope that one day they will lose all those fats in their bellies.

Eliminating those love handles and fat bellies is quiet a long journey to take and oftentimes tiresome.

so, there is one thing one should keep in mind; have the determination to stay healthy!

I read that loosing that belly fat is all about losing fat in all, and building overall muscle mass. I used to be F-A-T, like big time. I was bullied in high school because of being a fat kid. I was already in college when I realized what’s stated in the article. And it all boils down to self-disciple.

  30. Melt Belly Fat, 19. November 2009, 22:46

One of the best ways to get in better shape and improve your overall health is to eat a diet of real, whole foods. The western world eats way too much processed food and a lot of the stuff in processed and packaged foods are complex chemicals that your body doesn’t know how to process. One of the single best things you can do to melt away your belly fat is to change your diet to include more real meats, vegetables and whole grains while reducing boxed and processed foods. Making a simple diet change like this will allow you to lose belly fat without starving yourself.

  31. dietsfor-weightloss, 26. November 2009, 7:47

..very simple. you just have to exercise and limit yourself on your food intake. do not starve yourself . however, you have to choose food that you are eating. It should be healthy food.

Some guys however genetically store increased amounts of fat around the stomach and waste, meaning they have to work a lot harder to shift it…
